Full Conference and Event Management
Objective
Professor John Field, Director of Research at Roy Castle Lung Cancer Research Programme was the driving force behind many UK based workshops on cancer research and sought to use the Liverpool conference in 2008 to publicise Liverpool’s expertise in the area of lung cancer research, to develop international clinical and scientific partnerships and to expand the broader objectives of cancer research.
Implementation
Happening were appointed as Event Managers for this inaugural conference which brought together international experts and participants and served as an opportunity to build on past accomplishments and develop future strategies for lung cancer diagnostics and therapeutics. We devised a programme comprising Main Plenary, Parallel Speaker Sessions, Fringe Meetings and Exhibition. We also incorporated Social Programme elements - Welcome Reception and Gala Dinner and gave the international delegates the opportunity to enjoy the Liverpool Experience, with Beatles tribute band and children’s choir. Happening also devised a sponsorship strategy, which ensured that key players in the market were partners in ensuring the event’s success.
Results
A very effective e- marketing campaign attracted almost 350 delegates from over 35 countries. Happening were responsible for the full Event Management and the client hopes to organize a further International Lung Cancer Conference, following the success of this inaugural event.
