The College of Occupational Therapists holds an annual scientific meeting each year. This is the flagship event in the College calendar and attracts up to 1,000 participants at the meeting. The meeting is supported by a major exhibition of approximately 80 companies and sponsorship from organisations in the field that hold exhibitor workshops to demonstrate their services and products.
Participants represent all areas of the profession including researchers, clinicians, educationalists and practitioners. The College also encourages occupational therapy students to attend and offers a number of free places to each school of occupational therapy amounting to approximately 60 free places each year. There is also a reduced rate for students who are not successful in getting a free place. The College also encourages it retired members to continue to be involved in the meeting and a reduced rate is also offered to this group of members who usually hold a discussion forum during Thursday afternoon. Exhibitors are entitled to attend the plenary sessions but must pay a registration fee if they wish to attend any of the other educational sessions.
